Full Time, Public Sector Vacancy In Greater London

 

MRJ Associates are working on behalf of our client Southwark Council, who are recruiting for Cleaning Operative within the Local Authority paying up to £19.96 ph.

YOUR NEW CONTRACT

* Minimum 3 Months contract – Starting ASAP

* 36 hours per week across a 5-day rota.

* Up to Payrate £19.96 per hour (Umbrella)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To be responsible for loading bins on to dustcarts ensuring the security, safety and cleanliness in relation to the cleaning of designated commercial sites and locations as may be directed

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* To report to the Business Services Manager or an officer that may be delegated with the responsibility.

* Collection and removal of bulk/bagged refuse from all areas in the borough.

* To attend training sessions as may be directed, to use new equipment after training and to carry out new methods or procedures as and when directed.

* To follow all procedures relevant to maintaining the security of Council property as directed.

* To clean, maintain and store all cleaning equipment and materials as directed and report defective equipment and materials in accordance with procedure.

* To note when cleaning materials and other supplies are required and order or request that an order be placed for the necessary materials and supplies.

* To be responsible for the security of cleaning equipment and materials under the employee’s control

* Support the driver in cleaning the vehicle (inside and out) at least every two weeks or as directed

* Carry out all duties with due regard to:

* Health and Safety at Work Act

* The Council’s Equality and Diversity Policy

Experience

* A minimum of 1 years’ experience work in a cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste management or related work environment as a cleaner.

Knowledge/Skills

* An understanding of, and commitment to, the Council’s Equality and Diversity Policies in connection with employment and service provision.

* Ability to carry out all aspects of cleaning and loading as directed

* Ability to work without close and frequent supervision

* Ability to prioritise work to ensure service delivery is maintained

* Willingness and ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as provided
